Alan Greenhill commenced practice at Alfred Nott in December 1976 after graduating from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry.

He developed a keen interest in contact lenses. He has considerable experience in fitting rigid contact lenses and was among the first to fit toric soft contact lenses to correct astigmatism.  He is now involved in fitting multifocal contact lenses, as well as toric lenses, and has a large number of patients who have extended wear lenses.

Alan also has an interest in sports vision, having been involved with a number of elite level athletes. He also has a considerable interest in children’s vision.

He also is heavily involved in occupational eye safety, having implemented eye safety programs in places as diverse as quarries, concrete plants, steel plants, the automotive parts industry, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Alan has developed a keen in the management of patients with ocular pathology, being involved with the Diabetes Special Interest Group started by Dr. Nandor Jaross, as well as co-managing a number of patients with advanced macular degeneration.
